Since 1959, the St. Joseph County Soil & Water Conservation District has focused attention on natural resource problems and solutions in our county. We have a special emphasis on soil and water and assist landowners in planning and applying conservation practices on their land.

We recognize that soil and water quality concerns are interrelated. Promoting good soil health can directly result in cleaner water and air, bountiful and sustainable crops and forests, productive and sustainable grazing lands, diverse wildlife, and beautiful landscapes.

The St. Joseph County SWCD, along with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, form the St. Joseph County Soil & Water Conservation Partnership. We work together to provide educational, technical, and financial services to address soil and water quality to property owners throughout the county.
